Washing machine

Good7/10Premium

Speed Queen is bought for durability, not features: owners praise near-indestructible machines and easy repairs. Lab tests find cleaning and efficiency ordinary. Worth it if longevity and simplicity matter more than running costs.

Good at

  • Commercial-grade build aimed at 20+ year life
  • Simple mechanical design that is easy to repair
  • Long parts-and-labour warranties
  • Fast, traditional agitator top-loader cycles

Weak at

  • Top loaders use a lot of water and energy
  • Cleaning scores in lab tests trail modern front loaders
  • Expensive and sold mostly through specialist dealers
