Router / Wi-Fi

Mixed5/10Mid-range

Linksys was once the default router brand, but its Velop mesh systems now review as middling for the price. Fully owned by Fortinet since 2025, it's a reasonable choice only when discounted.

Good at

  • Velop mesh is simple to set up with the app
  • Familiar brand widely stocked in stores
  • Velop units with wired backhaul give solid coverage

Weak at

  • Pricier than equally fast TP-Link or Asus kit
  • App and firmware reliability complaints from owners
  • Brand has changed owners repeatedly; future roadmap unclear
