Laptop

Good7/10Premium

Framework is the right-to-repair pick: reviewers praise the modular design and upgrade path, though specs-for-money and battery life trail mainstream brands. It suits buyers planning to keep and upgrade one laptop for many years.

Good at

  • Every part is user-replaceable: RAM, SSD, battery, screen, ports
  • Mainboards can be upgraded to new CPU generations
  • Swappable expansion-card ports; good Linux support
  • Official parts marketplace and repair guides

Weak at

  • Costs more than mass-market laptops with similar specs
  • Battery life and speakers trail premium rivals
  • Direct online only — no retail stores to try one
