Router / Wi-Fi

Good8/10Mid-range

Asus routers are a favourite of enthusiasts for features and performance, and AiMesh adds flexibility. Keeping firmware updated matters: a 2025 botnet campaign hit routers that hadn't been patched.

Good at

  • Deep settings, VPN server and free security tools
  • AiMesh lets most Asus routers mesh together
  • ROG Rapture gaming routers top performance tests
  • Long firmware support and an active enthusiast community

Weak at

  • 2025 botnet exploited unpatched Asus routers
  • App and web interface can overwhelm beginners
  • Warranty handling criticised in 2024

LCD monitor

Good8/10Premium

ASUS covers every niche and its ROG Swift OLEDs are among the best-reviewed gaming monitors. You usually pay a premium for the ROG badge, and service experiences are mixed.

Good at

  • ROG Swift OLEDs are regular top picks in reviews
  • Widest range: esports to ProArt colour-critical screens
  • TUF Gaming offers solid budget high-refresh options
  • OLED burn-in covered by warranty on ROG models in many regions

Weak at

  • ROG models cost noticeably more than equivalent panels elsewhere
  • Many near-identical SKUs make the range confusing
  • Warranty handling has drawn criticism in some regions

Power supply (PSU)

Good7.5/10Premium

Asus PSUs are generally well built, with the ROG Thor aimed at showpiece builds and TUF Gaming covering the middle. They rarely beat Corsair or Seasonic on value, and Asus's support record is the main concern.

Good at

  • ROG Thor has an OLED power-draw readout and strong internals
  • TUF Gaming Gold is a sensible mid-range option
  • ROG Loki is a compact SFX-L choice for small builds

Weak at

  • ROG models carry a big premium over similar units
  • RMA handling has drawn criticism (2024 reports)
  • Aura RGB adds cost for little benefit

Graphics card

Good7.5/10Premium

ASUS makes some of the best-engineered and quietest cards, especially TUF and ROG models. You pay heavily for it, and its after-sales service has a mixed reputation.

Good at

  • Top-tier coolers on ROG Astral/Strix and TUF
  • Dual BIOS and extras like per-pin power sensing on Astral
  • Prime line is compact and closer to list price
  • Both GeForce and Radeon cards

Weak at

  • Highest price premium of the major partners
  • Flagship cards are huge and heavy
  • RMA handling criticised in some regions

Laptop

Good7/10Mid-range

Asus hardware is often the best value spec-for-spec, with Zenbook and ROG models regularly topping reviews. Its after-sales service is the weak point: 2024 reporting on repair quotes and RMA handling hurt its reputation, and Asus promised process changes.

Good at

  • Zenbooks offer OLED screens and light builds for the money
  • ROG Zephyrus and Strix are top-rated gaming laptops
  • Very wide range, often first with new chips and screen types

Weak at

  • Warranty/RMA handling widely criticised (2024 investigations)
  • Build quality on budget Vivobooks is inconsistent
  • Armoury Crate / MyASUS software is clunky

Motherboard

Good7/10Premium

Asus makes some of the best-featured boards, but its reputation took hits from how it handled the 2023 AM5 SoC-voltage burnouts and from 2024 reports of poor RMA treatment. The hardware is excellent; the premium and support record are the trade-offs.

Good at

  • Most polished BIOS and richest feature sets
  • ROG and ProArt boards lead on build and extras
  • Strong memory overclocking support

Weak at

  • Priced above rivals at most tiers
  • Criticised for 2023 AM5 SoC-voltage burnouts handling
  • 2024 reports of unfair RMA repair quotes
  • Armoury Crate software is bloated; had security flaws

Keyboard / mouse

Good7/10Premium

ASUS ROG keyboards and mice are well reviewed and packed with features, with the Azoth a popular enthusiast board. Complaints focus on the Armoury Crate software and inconsistent warranty handling.

Good at

  • Feature-rich ROG Azoth and Falchion keyboards
  • ROG Harpe and Keris mice are light and fast
  • Hot-swap sockets and OLED screens on top models

Weak at

  • Armoury Crate software widely criticised
  • Warranty and RMA experiences are mixed
  • Premium pricing
