Cloud Plans

Compare 175 plans from 35 providers — VMs, containers, Postgres, MySQL, Redis, object storage, Kubernetes, NoSQL (MongoDB, DynamoDB, Firestore, Cosmos DB …) and vector databases (Pinecone, Qdrant, pgvector …). Pick what you need, where and for how much, and see which provider covers it cheapest, or compare the providers themselves: how popular they are, what they are good for and what people say about them. Not sure what you need? Help me choose asks a few questions about your project and explains why each provider fits or not, and the Guide lists what to weigh besides price, CPU and RAM.

Five kinds of provider

They sell different things, so the cheapest plan is not always the right one. Click a kind to list only those providers.

Reading the comparison

How popular is the approximate share of worldwide cloud infrastructure spend (Synergy Research, 2025) where a provider is big enough to register, plus a 1–5 rating of developer mindshare. Most common sorts by that rating, then by share.

Stars, reviews, good for, liked for and complaints summarise common developer opinion. They are a judgement, not an average of review-site scores. Few reviews marks small hosts without much of a track record either way, so their stars are tentative.

Favourites (the heart beside a name) are kept in this browser. Turn on Favourites only here or in Find a plan to list just those.

Services here are the ones this page has plans for. Most providers sell more (queues, CDNs, AI…), and some sell a service here that is not listed yet.

Instructions

Pick the cloud services you need, where you need them and what you can spend, and compare plans from AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, DigitalOcean, Hetzner, Render, Fly.io, Supabase, Neon and more — price, CPU, RAM, network, extra costs, contract terms and popularity side by side. Or compare the providers themselves.

  1. Not sure where to start? Open Help me choose and answer the questions: project size, how the app runs, which databases, how much data, where your users are, budget and contract. The providers that fit list their cheapest plans for all of it; every other provider says why it is out (No Postgres in Australia, Postgres tops out at 1 GB storage, over your $25 budget). Fine-tune in Find a plan carries the answers over as filters.
  2. Start from a Quick pick — Always free, Free MySQL, Free Postgres, Free NoSQL, Free vector DB, 5 containers under $10 — or build your own below.
  3. Choose one or more Services. Each one picked gets its own block with its options. VMs, containers and Kubernetes clusters have How many; prices multiply by it. Every service has Size ranges: CPU, RAM and disk for a VM, CPU and RAM for containers and Kubernetes, storage for databases, vector databases and object storage, memory for Redis. NoSQL covers MongoDB, DynamoDB, Firestore, Cosmos DB, DocumentDB and Oracle NoSQL; pick one or more of them in its block to narrow it.
  4. Narrow by Regions (a provider must be in every country you pick), Providers (or Favourites only), Budget and free tier (a range, or Always free / Free), and a Contract length range.
  5. Click the heart beside any provider's name to make it a favourite. Favourites only then lists just those, in Find a plan (in place of the provider pick) and in Compare providers.
  6. Best-fit providers shows what each provider would charge for the whole set, cheapest first. All matching plans lists every individual plan. Click a column header (Provider, Plan, CPU, RAM, Price) to sort by it and again to flip the order, or use the Sort by buttons for price, popularity, vCPU or RAM.
  7. Compare providers explains the five kinds of provider and lists each one's popularity, star rating, reviews, what it is good for, what people like and complain about, the services it offers (Postgres only, Databases only …) and its free plans; click a column header to sort by it, or Best rated for the stars. Search by name, service, plan or use, or tick the providers you are weighing up (say AWS and Render) and turn on Show selected only to see just those rows. See its plans (or See their plans for the ticked ones) jumps back with those providers picked.
  8. The Guide is a checklist of what to weigh besides price, CPU and RAM: for any plan (region, the whole bill, what free means, lock-in, backups …) and for each service (permanent storage for containers, connection limits for databases, egress for object storage …). It starts on the services you picked in Find a plan.

Tips

  • Budget is a monthly total: with 5 containers and a $10 max, a $1.94 machine passes (5 × $1.94 = $9.70) but a $5 one does not. Set a min too to hide the free and toy plans.
  • Contract 1 year to 3 years shows only plans you can reserve, priced at their best discount; No commitment to 3 years keeps everything.
  • Scale-to-zero plans (Cloud Run, Azure Container Apps, Render Free) show $0 because their free grant is shared across every service on the account — five busy containers will use it up faster than one.
  • Several small containers are often cheapest on one VM running Docker Compose — a $5–7 Vultr or Hetzner VM holds five light services easily. Pick Virtual machine to compare.
  • Size ranges apply only to the services picked. A plan that lists no figure for a size you set is hidden. Storage sold per GB (EBS, Render's $0.30/GB-month) passes any storage minimum, and its price covers only the storage included.
  • NoSQL databases are not interchangeable: DocumentDB, Cosmos DB and Oracle's JSON database speak the MongoDB API (they are marked so), but DynamoDB and Firestore need their own SDKs. Usage-billed ones (DynamoDB on-demand) are priced for a light app; yours depends on reads and writes.
  • Help me choose sizes the app by project size: Small wants 512 MB RAM per container or a 1 GB VM, Medium two 1 GB containers, a 2 vCPU / 4 GB VM and a 256 MB cache, Large three 2 GB containers or two 4 vCPU / 8 GB VMs. The data size is the least storage each database and file store must include (or the VM's disk when it holds everything). Fine-tune any of it in Find a plan.
  • Filters and answers are kept in local storage on this device only — nothing is sent anywhere.
  • Hit Example and click the highlighted 5 containers under $10 quick pick (or, on the other tabs, the Find a plan tab) to see a priced comparison.
