Coffee grinder

Good7.5/10Mid-range

Breville's Smart Grinder Pro is a popular all-rounder for beginners pairing a grinder with an espresso machine. It is not in the same league as Eureka or Niche, but it is cheap and widely supported. The older Dose Control Pro is less convincing.

Good at

  • Smart Grinder Pro is consistent and easy to dial in
  • Timed dosing with a clear display
  • Easy to buy and service everywhere

Weak at

  • Dose Control Pro is dated with some clumping
  • Fine enough for espresso but not specialist grade
