Motherboard

Mixed6/10Budget

ASRock is a value favourite, but most reported Ryzen 7 9800X3D deaths in 2025 involved its AM5 boards. It released several BIOS updates into 2026, yet user reports continued. For AM5, update the BIOS before first boot or weigh another brand.

Good at

  • Lots of features for the money at each price tier
  • Taichi and Steel Legend boards are well regarded
  • Good small form factor (ITX) options

Weak at

  • Many 9800X3D failure reports on its AM5 boards (2025–26)
  • Blamed on BIOS defaults; later BIOSes didn't end reports
  • BIOS polish and update pace trail MSI and Asus
